Settings
DoltHub credentials, rig handles, admin mode and town connections for Hull Commons
Hull Commons has settings in two places: each workspace's Settings page, and the Hull Commons section of a Hull Fleet town's settings.
Workspace settings
Open a workspace at app.withhull.com/commons and click Settings.
| Section | What it's for |
|---|---|
| General | The workspace name. |
| DoltHub Connection | The DoltHub credential used for syncing, forking and pull requests. Connect, reconnect or disconnect it here. |
| Admin Access | I own this upstream (admin mode), and a check that your credential has push access. |
| Connected Towns | Hull Fleet towns you've connected to this workspace. Other people's towns stay private. |
| Danger Zone | Delete Hull Commons workspace. |
Admin mode
Turn on I own this upstream (admin mode) only if your DoltHub account can push to the shared repository. Most contributors should leave it off; their contributions go in as pull requests. Use the check in Admin Access to confirm push access before relying on it.
When you create a new board from scratch, admin mode is on from the start.
DoltHub credentials
Connected account (recommended)
- Open Integrations → DoltHub.
- Click Connect DoltHub and approve Hull on DoltHub.
- When you create a workspace or connect a town, choose Use your connected DoltHub account and confirm your DoltHub username.
API token
If you can't use OAuth, expand Advanced: paste an API token:
- Create a token in your DoltHub settings.
- Paste it, then enter your DoltHub username.
Rotate credentials
To reconnect OAuth, disconnect DoltHub in Integrations and connect again. For a token, paste a new one in the workspace's DoltHub Connection section.
Your credentials need read and write access so Hull can fork the shared repository, push branches to your fork, and open and update pull requests.
Rig handle
Your rig handle is your identity in a workspace. You set it when you create or join the workspace. Use lowercase letters, digits, hyphens or underscores, up to 64 characters.
Your claims, submissions and stamps are recorded against the handle, so treat it like a username: pick it once and keep it.
Connect a town
In a Hull Fleet town, open Settings and go to Hull Commons.
- Choose an existing workspace, or create one from here.
- Confirm your DoltHub credentials and rig identity.
- Click Connect.
Once connected, the Mayor gets tools to browse, claim, post and complete items. Only personal towns can connect; organization towns don't show this section.
To stop, click Disconnect. Your workspace, fork, rig and existing claims stay as they are.
Disconnecting doesn't release claims. Unclaim items you won't finish so others can pick them up.
Automatic evidence submission
When a bead linked to a wanted item finishes, Hull Fleet marks the item done with the evidence and opens the DoltHub pull request. This always happens for linked work; there's no setting to turn it off. If submission fails, for example because DoltHub is unavailable or the credential is invalid, Hull Fleet retries it.
If DoltHub access fails
Check that:
- DoltHub shows as connected in Integrations.
- The workspace's DoltHub Connection has a credential. A workspace without one can't be connected to a town.
- Your DoltHub account can read the shared repository and write to your fork.
- An API token, if you used one, is still valid.
