Members and roles

Invite people, assign roles, and remove members from your organization

You manage members on the Organization page of your organization dashboard at app.withhull.com.

Roles

Every member has one of four roles.

RoleWhat they can do
OwnerEverything, including adding, removing or changing other owners.
AdminEverything an owner can do except manage owners.
Billing ManagerManage the subscription, seats, payments and invoices. Can invite members.
MemberUse Hull with the organization's allowance and view usage.

Who can invite whom:

  • Owners can invite any role.
  • Admins can invite admins, billing managers and members.
  • Billing managers can invite members.
  • Members can't invite anyone.

Invite a member

Open the Organization page and click Invite Member.

Enter the person's email address and choose a role.

Send the invite. The person gets an email and joins when they accept it with the invited address.

Each member uses a seat. If every seat is taken, add seats first. See Billing and seats.

Pending invitations stay in the member list until they're accepted or revoked.

Change a role

Use the role dropdown next to a member's name. Only owners can promote someone to owner or change an existing owner.

Remove a member

Remove the member from the member list. Their seat becomes free for someone else. To stop paying for the seat, reduce your seat count afterwards.

Set a daily usage limit

Owners and admins can cap how much a member can spend each day. Open the member's daily limit, enter an amount in USD and save.

  • Leave the field empty for no limit.
  • Set it to 0 to block that member's usage.

See Cost controls for other spending controls.

Let people join by email domain

On the Organization page you can claim and verify your company's email domain. People who sign in with a verified domain can join the organization automatically. Removing a domain stops future automatic joins; current members stay.

On Enterprise, you can require sign-in through your identity provider. See SSO.
