Browser use

Let Hull open, inspect and test web pages, including the app you're building.

Hull can drive a browser to check your work: open your local app, click through a flow, fill in forms, read the page and take screenshots. It's most useful for verifying UI changes and reproducing front-end bugs.

Browser use works best with capable, recent models.

Turn it on

Open Settings › Browser and turn on Playwright browser automation. You can also choose to use your installed Chrome and to run the browser without a visible window.

The Browser panel (⌘ ⇧ B) is separate: it lets you preview your app, finds local dev servers automatically, and can add annotations you draw on a page to the composer. See Computer use for letting the agent operate other apps.

Ask Hull to use it

Describe what to check in plain language:

  • "Open http://localhost:3000 and check that the login form shows an error for a wrong password."
  • "Scroll to the bottom of the home page and confirm the footer links work."
  • "Take a screenshot of the settings page on a narrow viewport."

Hull starts the browser when it needs it, reports what it saw after each step, and fixes code based on what it finds if you ask it to.

Browser actions can submit forms and change data in the app you point Hull at. Use local or test environments, not production accounts.
